The busier your inbox, the easier it is to click something you shouldn't. Inbox Hero adds a security layer most email tools completely lack: an optional, per-mailbox Fraud folder that quarantines dangerous mail automatically.
Why writing quality no longer tells you anything
The old tells (bad grammar, odd phrasing) are gone: AI writes a flawless fake invoice or a perfect note from your CEO in seconds. So Inbox Hero ignores how an email reads and checks what a scammer can't fake.
How it decides what's malicious
- Sender and headers. Each message's authentication results (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), a reply-to address on a different domain, and a sender name claiming a brand its domain doesn't belong to.
- Links. Visible text that doesn't match the real destination, look-alike (punycode) and raw-IP domains, shorteners, abuse-heavy domains, credential-harvest pages and direct downloads of executables.
- Attachments. Files that run when opened (.exe, .js, .iso, .lnk and more), double extensions like invoice.pdf.exe, macro-enabled Office files, attached HTML sign-in pages and password-locked archives. Attachments are checked by name and file type and are never opened or downloaded.
- AI intent review. Anything suspicious is reviewed by an AI that judges intent: credential theft, fake invoices, gift-card, wire and crypto requests, executive and vendor impersonation. Only high-confidence threats are quarantined, and every move is undoable.
Why it matters
Phishing is the number-one way accounts get compromised. Filing dangerous mail into a separate folder means a rushed morning never turns into a stolen password or a wired payment.
Frequently asked questions
How does Inbox Hero detect phishing?
It checks each message's sender authentication and headers, real link destinations and attachment types for attack signals — failed SPF/DKIM/DMARC, mismatched reply-to or display names, look-alike and raw-IP domains, credential pages, executable or disguised attachments — then confirms with an AI check before quarantining.
Can it catch AI-written scams?
Yes, because it does not rely on spelling or grammar. AI can write a perfect message, but it cannot make a spoofed sender pass authentication, a look-alike link point to the real site, or a program stop being a program.
Does it open my attachments?
No. Attachments are checked by file name and type from the message structure; they are never downloaded or opened.
Will it move my legitimate email by mistake?
It is conservative by design and combines strict technical signals with an AI confirmation, so genuine mail stays in your inbox. Every move is also one-tap undoable.
Do other email tools do this?
Most folder-based triage tools do not include fraud/phishing quarantine. It is a distinguishing security feature of Inbox Hero.
